The called meeting of Gulf Coast Presbytery was called to order by the moderator, RE William M.  Harris, IV at 10:03 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2000, at the First Presbyterian Church, Niceville, FL.

00-42 COMMUNICATIONS

1.      Letter from TEs R. Evans, J. Grider, C. DeBardeleben and REs C. Fellers, T. Roberson requesting that Gulf Coast Presbytery be called to meet. Presbytery found the call to be in order.

2.      Letters from the Pinewoods’ Session and TE G. Shamblin requesting that presbytery dissolve the pastoral relationship between them., referred to the Ministers and Candidates Committee.

3.       Requests for excused absence from TEs S. Bradford, W. Channell, S. DeVries, R. Gardner, C. Gwin, M. Griffith, B. Johnston, G. Omerly and RE Commissioners from Loxley and New Philadelphia.

00-43 COMMITTEE REPORTS

A.    MINISTERS AND CANDIDATES REPORT – TE R. EVANS

TE R. Evans presented the report to presbytery. Presbytery adopted the committee’s recommendation to dissolve the pastoral relationship between George Shamblin and the Pinewoods Presbyterian Church, effective September 1, 2000.

The committee’s report was approved as a whole.

B.     MNA COMMITTEE REPORT – RE C. Fellers

RE C. Fellers presented the report to presbytery. Presbytery adopted the following recommendations:

1. That a new mission work in greater Pensacola area be approved to organize itself as Christ Community Church.  (The core group for this work is coming from Pinewoods Presbyterian Church with blessing and approval of said Church Session.)

2.  That presbytery call TE G. Shamblin to be the organizing pastor of the Christ Community Mission and that the Salary and benefits be $55,354.

3. That Presbytery approve the call of George Shamblin as organizing pastor of Christ Community Church and place it in his hands. Mr. Shamblin agreed to the terms of the call. (Appendix A)

4.  That Presbytery approve the establishment of a commission consisting of 4 TE and 4 RE, to oversee the work of the new mission work to be chaired by TE Bruce Sinclair and that the commission be given power to install TE Shamblin as organizing pastor and that the quorum be the same as that of a Session. Presbytery appointed the following to the commission: TE B. Sinclair, TE C. DeBardeleben, TE R. Hornick, TE G. Shamblin and REs F. Drew, L. Kirkland, E. Lugo, and J. Sport.

 00-44 ADJOURNMENT AND CLOSING PRAYER

Presbytery adjourned at 11:03 a.m. RE Bill Harris led in the closing prayer.
